In class this last week we have been talking about many different kinds of water issues. Water issues can be very dangers. It could maybe even kill us, because we would not have any water. Men need roughly about 13 cups of water and women need about 9 cups of water a day. Also the average person needs eight 8-ounce glasses of water a day. If we didn't have any water we might not be able to live. Water is a major source of our life's, we need water each and every day. So if the rivers are in a drought and not producing water. When the rivers don't produce the water then we can not have it to drink.
In 2001, Kofi Annan predicts a water as a key issue for conflicts. The Nile is the world’s largest river and also a huge water source for North Africa region. The river has a length of about 4,132 miles and it drains an area estimated at 1,293,000 square miles. The nile flows northward through northeast Africa to drain into the Mediterranean Sea. It is formed by three principal rivers the Blue Nile, the Atbara, and the White Nile. The water is arising due to high growth in population and agricultural activities. They are not matched with the water supplies and also the speeds replenishment in the water source. The average rate of rivers renew drops between 18 days to three months. 97% of the Nile river is Egypt’s water supply. The water supply and population has had a security problem since 2005. In 2005 the analyst predicts 600m3 of freshwater and 400m3 lower as compared to in 2005 standards and is low as per world standards.
In the regions the they would forces to protect their water supply. Egypt warned them that a change in water distribution would be considered as a war. The water access to the water from the nile is one of the most critical aspects of human survival. About one third of the population lacked access to water. It constituted 300 million people and about 313 million people lack proper sanitation. As a result many of the surrounding countries that are around the Nile river basin they have expressed a direct stake in the water resources.
The Blue Nile is a part of the Nile river. The Blue Nile is originating at lake Tana in Ethiopia. There is also a White Nile, it is one of the two major tributaries of the Nile. Blue Nile 1,450 kilometers in length and 800 kilometers of that is within the Ethiopia. It flows generally south from the lake called Lake Tana and then west across Ethiopia and northwest into Sudan. There are 30 kilometers of its source Lake Tana, the river enters a canyon about 400 kilometers long. In the rainy season which is in the months of June to September the Blue Nile it reaches maximum volume. It supplies about two thirds of the water of the Nile proper. The Blue Nile is a major source of the annual Nile floods and that contributes to the fertility of the Nile Valley. The Blue Nile contributes more than half of the Nile’s streamflow.
